Bandhavgarh Jungle Lodge

TOFT Wildlife Tourism Awards 2010
The John Wakefield Memorial Award for - Most Inspirational Eco Lodge of the Year 2010

TOFTigers - PUG ECO RATING

Located within walking distance of Bandhavgarh National Park's main gate, the jungle lodge has been developed on the theme of an Indian village, with fourteen thatched twin-bedded cottages around an inner courtyard. There is one separate villa with further accommodations of four spacious rooms.

A lot of fruit trees and bushes have been deliberately planted to attract a variety of butterflies, birds and insects. Due to such close proximity to the Bandhavgarh National Park, Spotted deer and the Langur Monkey can often be seen in and around the Lodge. The Lodge is based on a unique theme of an Indian Village. It is tastefully developed with low impact on the land and the environment. With 14 cottages and a four rooms villa , a temple, a well, and a organic garden it makes a unique setting in Indian landscape and specially the Rural and wild India. The Lodge is planned to provide a friendly, informal relaxed environment with lots to observe, understand and learn, to make some good friends and to support conservation. Since it is located close to Bandhavgarh National Park and to the entrance gate, it has been sensitive to the environment to enable all guest to listen to Jungle sounds during day or night which makes it a exciting and chilling experience for some, listening to alarm calls of the deer or a occasional roar of the Tiger. It is set on strong principles of being environmentally friendly and every aspect of its development and operation is sensitively synthesized towards nature conservation. We hope you will enjoy and make your stay a learning experience.

Location

Situated in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, Bandhavgarh National Park is a 448 km2 renowned tiger reserve. Nestled among the picturesque Vindhya and Satpura ranges, this is one of India's most beautiful national parks.

The landscape features tropical forests and woodlands, and steep rocky hills with flat grasslands in the valleys below. An ancient 2000 year old fort, 10th century statue of Lord Vishnu, and the dense Sal jungle combined with the grasslands make Bandhavgarh one of the most extraordinary parks in India.

Tiger sightings are great from October till June. Sloth Bear sightings are good March till May, as they come out to eat a local flower called “Mahua”, the locals collect this flower to make a local alcohol as well. For Birds Bandhavgarh is good from November till March.
